Relationship Counselling Effectiveness

75% of couples attending relationship counselling benefit from the experience. The 25% who do not tend to attend for only one or two sessions and typically one of the partners is reluctant to attend a course of therapy.

Outcomes in Couples Therapy

Things can go three ways. Ultimately, any of these can be good, though the last option is obviously least preferred. The two of you can:

  • Change your relationship in ways that will bring you both much closer together, in a more accepting and loving relationship

  • Accept your  relationship as you realise that actually you do give each other a lot, and with quite modest changes you can enjoy each and feel supported by each other

  • End the relationship gracefully - that after exploring what brought you both together, you realise that are not going to get what you need, but can work to end the relationship without the rancour or bitterness and cost that often comes when relationships end - especially if lawyers become involved.

Needless to say, you can start with one aim, and have it evolve into another during the course of the work.

Summary

75% benefit from therapy

You can work together to either:

   Change your relationship

   Accept your relationship

   End your relationship (gracefully)
